PHRMA Board of Directors, Here I Come!

I haven't spoken about this much to damn near anybody but starting January 1, 2021, I will be joining the Portland HR Management Association (PHRMA) Board of Directors! I'll be joining them as their new Director of Equity and Inclusion. This role will allow me the opportunity to be a thought partner and leading force in ensuring equity, inclusion, and an active stance of anti-racism and anti-Blackness permeates all aspects of HR for PHRMA members. This will include having a hand in impacting the resources, training opportunities, and the overall development of thousands of HR professionals in the city.

I don't know how many of y'all know this about me, but I got into and stay in HR because I believe this field and its practitioners can be better. We should be better. We have an opportunity to create new standards for empathy, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. This is how I have always approached my work and guided others to do the same throughout my career. With this PHRMA Board position, I will have the opportunity to help impact the growth of HR professionals and possibly change and mold how HR is done in Portland!

I'm looking forward to diving into this work with PHRMA head-first as we head into the new year!
